Reading Rush TBR

Tomorrow, on July 20th, the Reading Rush – a week-long readathon – starts! It ends on July 26th. I had so much fun participating last year that I decided to join in again, and I’m really looking forward to it. I actually reorganized my TBR three times, but now I’m really happy with it. Of course, sticking to it is always another story, so we’ll see what I end up reading!

Read a Book With a Cover That Matches the Colour of Your Birth Stone

I was born in February, so my birth stone is amethyst, which is purple. For this first prompt. I want to finally read Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman. I read Summer Bird Blue last summer and absolutely loved it, so I have high hopes for this one.

Read a Book That Starts With the Word “The”

This might be cheating a little bit, but I started the audiobook for The Life and (Medieval) Times of Kit Sweetly last week, and I really want to finish it this week. I’ll be able to combine this with playing Animal Crossing, which is good, because I’m quickly becoming obsessed with that and it’s not helpful for participating in a readathon.

Read a Book That Inspired a Movie You’ve Already Seen

I normally read the book before watching the movie, so I don’t have very many options for this. But I did watch Little Women without reading the book first, so I’ll try to read the book this week. Key word being “try” because I’m not the best at reading classics.

Read the First Book You Touch

To decide on a book for this prompt, I scrolled through my Transathon TBR post with my eyes closed. When I opened them, I’d landed on Just Like That by Cole McCade, so that’s what I’ll be reading.

Just Like That (Albin Academy, #1)

Read a Book Completely Outside of Your House

I wanted to pick a short book for this prompt, and I’ve been wanting to read I Wanna Be Where You Are by Kristina Forest for ages. It seems like a really quick, cute contemporary, and if the weather’s nice, I can read it in my hammock!

Read a Book In a Genre You’ve Always Wanted to Read More of

I always want to read more anthologies – I have so many on my TBR! This is cheating a little, but I’m currently reading All Out, and I’m hoping to finish it.

All Out: The No-Longer-Secret Stories of Queer Teens Throughout the Ages

Read a Book That Takes Place On a Different Continent Than Where You Live

For this final prompt, I want to read Vicious Spirits by Kat Cho, which is set in Korea. I just finished Wicked Fox last week, and I loved it so much. It was the perfect urban fantasy, and I can’t wait to read more about these characters and setting!

BONUS

If I’m able to, I’m actually hoping to finish a few more books:

  • Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race, which I’m reading as part of a book club and only have a few chapters left to read in.
  • Court of Lions, because I just finished my reread of Mirage.
  • Heartsong, because it’s a buddy read with my friend.
  • I might also read another audiobook.
  • And lastly, I might try to read more books off of my Transathon TBR, because I haven’t really gotten around to reading many yet, and it would be nice to combine readathons.

Are you participating in the Reading Rush? What are you reading?

If you order books through the links in this post, I’ll make a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps me review more books and host more giveaways, so I’d be very grateful if you used it!
