Earlier this week, I was tagged by Layla @ Readable Life to do her super fun new book tag, inspired by Alice Oseman’s amazing books. As you probably know, I’m a huge fan of Alice Oseman’s books, so I’m very excited to do this tag!
JIMMY KAGA-RICCI
A CHARACTER YOU LOVE THAT OVERCAME SOMETHING HUGE
Ben from I Wish You All the Best goes through so much just so be able to be themself, and I love them with all my heart. Now that I’m typing this, I’m thinking I should probably reread this book soon, because it’s one of my favourite books of the year.
ROWAN OMONDI
FAVOURITE PROTECTIVE CHARACTER
I actually have two for this prompt: Achilles and Patroclus from The Song of Achilles. It’s so incredibly wonderful (and, of course, extremely tragic) to see them protecting each other through anything and everything.
LISTER BIRD
CHARACTER THAT OOZES CHARM
Lister is possibly my favourite character from I Was Born For This. He deserves so much more, and I really really need there to be a sequel where he can live his best life. So the stakes are high on this one.
It actually took me a really long time to come up with a character, but I think my ultimate choice here would probably be Magnus Bane. I can’t imagine there being anyone alive that Magnus Bane couldn’t charm the socks off.
ANGEL RAHIMI
BOOK YOU’RE THE MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT
Aside from Heartstopper and Red, White and Royal Blue, you mean? I guess I can’t keep shouting about the same books.
A book I should talk about more is probably The Diviners by Libba Bray, which I absolutely adored. It’s just incredible how much this book pulls off in terms of different genres, plotlines and characters and there’s so much diversity and I’m just so in awe of it.
CHARLIE SPRING
FAVOURITE BOOKISH OTP
Well, I suppose I can’t very well choose my faves Nick and Charlie for this prompt, right?
I know, I know. This is not quite canon. But I refuse to believe it, so I’m still going with it: Wolfstar, aka Sirius and Remus from Harry Potter. They’re the best powercouple the wizarding world has ever known and they’re my all time favourite OTP.
TORI SPRING
MOST MYSTERIOUS BOOK YOU’VE READ
Because Tori is a pretty mysterious (main) character, I’m going to go with a book that’s also mainly mysterious because of the main character: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Evelyn Hugo has such an air of mystery surrounding her, and unraveling that made for a pretty intense reading experience.
NICK NELSON
FAVOURITE BOOK THAT BRINGS YOU JOY
You mean a book that brings me more joy than Heartstopper? Impossible.
But alright, there is one that’s pretty much up there in terms of never failing to cheer me up (and I know this, because I’ve read it three times already): Red, White and Royal Blue. This book is so funny and heartwarming and chances are I will end up reading it a fourth time this year.
NELLIE
FAVOURITE BOOK TO SNUGGLE UP WITH
The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O’Neill is such a beautiful, provocative and very soothing graphic novel, that I just know I will read time and time again.
I absolutely love snuggling up with a graphic novel in general, because you can enjoy both the writing and the beautiful art work, and you can usually read them in one sitting, which really adds to the reading experience for me.
ALED LAST
A BOOK THAT HELPED YOU GET THROUGH A ROUGH TIME
Incidentally, that book is Radio Silence. And Aled is my absolute favourite Alice Oseman character. I could play fair and choose something not by Alice Oseman, but nothing comes even close to how much both Radio Silence and Heartstopper have helped me get through my depression. These books mean so much to me because of that.
FRANCES JANVIER
A CHARACTER WITH TONS OF DETERMINATION
Neil Josten. If Neil Josten isn’t determined, I don’t know who is. Ugh, why are posts like this always making me want to reread all my favourite books? All I want now is to reread The Foxhole Court once again.
This was such a fun tag to do!
If you’d like to do it too, consider yourself tagged! And do let me know if you do it, because I’d love to read your post 🙂
The illustrations in this post are all by Alice Oseman and are used with permission.
If you order books through the links in this post, I’ll make a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps me review more books and host more giveaways, so I’d be very grateful if you used it!
Love this tag, I might give it a go at some point this month!
