A while ago, I shared my sign-up post for the Year of the Asian Reading Challenge. Since then, I managed to read a few more books by Asian authors, so I thought I’d share an update post.
Current Progress
When I first posted, at the end of February, I’d read 8 books, which meant I’d already gained the Philippine tarsier. By now, I’ve read 11 more books:
- Sabaa Tahir – An Ember in the Ashes
- Sabaa Tahir – A Torch Against the Night
- Sabaa Tahir – A Reaper at the Gates
- Sangu Mandanna (ed.) – Color Outside the Lines
- Roshani Chokshi – A Crown of Wishes
- Jen Wang – The Prince and the Dressmaker
- Zen Cho – Sorcerer to the Crown
- Roshani Chokshi – The Gilded Wolves
- Sabina Khan – The Love and Lies of Rukhsana Ali
- Celeste Ng – Little Fires Everywhere
- Em Ali – Graham’s Delicacies
Challenge Goal
As I’ve currently read 19 books by Asian authors, I’ve now reached the goal of the Indian cobra. Honestly, give me animals and I’m excited! Since it’s only April, I should have a good chance of reaching my goal of the Bengali tiger. After all, if I continue in this pace, I’ll end up reading around 60 books in total.
Immediate TBR
Some of the books I’m hoping to read very soon are:
- Emiko Jean – Empress of All Seasons
- Sara Saedi – Never Ever
- Min Jin Lee – Pachinko
- Gene Luen Yang – American Born Chinese
- Evelyn Skye – Circle of Shadows
- Kevin Kwan – Rich People Problems
- Jeannette Ng – Under the Pendulum Sun
- Marjane Satrapi – Persepolis
- Samira Ahmed – Internment
- Tahereh Mafi – Defy Me
- S.K. Ali – Saints and Misfits
- Sara Farizan – Here to Stay
- Misa Sugiura – It’s Not Like It’s A Secret
- Rin Chupeco – The Bone Witch
- Tara Sim – Timekeeper
- Hena Khan – Amina’s Voice
As you can see, I have a lot of great reads to look forward to!
Happy reading!
